Pricing: Please review the pricing before you set up an event. We charge separately for the usage of the 608/708 cloud encoding service in addition to the normal StreamText usage fees.
- Enter details for the event as you normally would.
- Go to the "CART & Captioning" tab and look for the "608/708 Closed Captions" section.
- Check the "Stream Closed Captions" selection
- Enter the "Stream Destination URL" - This is the end destination for the video. You should have an RTMP address that follows the format of rtmp:// ....or rtmps://.... In many cases your client will provide you this link.
- Enter the "Stream Destination Key" - This is the streaming key for the video destination. It is usually provided by your client.
- Set "Correct Buffer" if needed - The correction buffer is used to help process edits that may occur during the captioning of the event. After a line is sent to the encoder there are no changes allowed, so you want to make sure the edits and translations have completed beforehand. If you see duplication or partially edited output, try increasing this value.
- Click on "Create Event". After the event is created you'll be taken to the "Event Details" which will provide values that are needed for encoding the video with 608/708 Closed Captions.

Troubleshooting
No captions showing on destination video:
Verify that you can see captions flowing into the StreamText event watch window and the event is live and verify you can see the video on the destination video player.
Cannot connect to the RTMP address listed on the Details and link page:
The StreamText event must be live before you can connect to that RTMP address. So first make sure the event is live. It can also take up to 60 seconds for the connection to complete from your encoding software.
Cannot see video on the destination video player:
Make sure the destination video is live and the video encoder is sending video to the RTMP address listed on the Details and Link page. You can also click on the event control and then on Closed Caption Status . Then you will see the following details on the video stream this may help diagnose the issue and any warnings will be listed here as well.
